I have been giving a lot more thought to prayer this week, and have even thought to give a survey on Facebook about this matter. Exactly how important is prayer in our lives? Is is something we only do because the Bible teaches us to do so, or because our love for God compels us to do so?

I know what the answer to this should be, but I am not sure that this is the practical reality in most of our lives, most of the time. I have been considering where we as a church in America might be ranked according to God in this area of personal and congregational holiness. It seems to me from much of what I am reading about the church in the rest of the world, and from what I see in my day to day interactions and converstations with people, that we are falling horribly behind in this area of our Christian life, and that really raises my concern for the church here in the US.

How about you? Where do you rate prayer? Is it a "must do", a "something I know is good, but find little time for", or does it not really play a great part in your Christian life? These are things that we really do need to reguarly consider as Christians, and make the appropriate adjustments in our lives as the Holy Spirit directs us.

If you are reading this, I urge you to take some time to evaluate this in your own mind. Then, I encourage you to also take some time and get down on your knees and pray to your God.
